FAQ: Automotive Equipment in Canada
► What is automotive equipment?
Automotive equipment is the machinery used to service, repair and maintain vehicles. It includes:
- vehicle lifts;
- tire changers, wheel balancers and alignment systems;
- air compressors and exhaust extraction;
- fluid handling equipment;
- collision repair equipment;
- A/C service carts;
- pressure washers;
- shop storage.
► Do you ship automotive equipment across Canada?
Yes. We ship automotive equipment and accessories to customers across Canada. Contact us for delivery details and timelines to your location.
► Do you sell and install automotive equipment outside Manitoba and Saskatchewan?
Our installation and service teams work out of Winnipeg and Regina but we sell to and install across Canada. NOTE: subcontract installers / service people may be contracted for out of province work.
► Is it safe to buy automotive equipment from U.S. sellers?
Be careful. In Canada, electrical equipment must be certified by a body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada before it can be sold, installed or used. Look for a CSA, cUL or cETL mark. A U.S.-only "UL" mark without the small "c" isn't approved for Canada, and an electrical inspector can refuse to connect the equipment. For vehicle lifts, also look for the ALI gold certification label. Every piece of equipment we sell is certified for use in Canada.
► What automotive equipment does a new repair shop need?
Most shops start with:
- vehicle lifts;
- an air compressor and air lines;
- a tire changer and wheel balancer;
- fluid handling equipment;
- exhaust extraction;
- workbenches and storage.
Alignment, collision repair, A/C service, and EV work each add their own equipment. We'll help you decide what to buy now and what to add as you grow.
► Which automotive equipment brands do you carry?
Our brands include Rotary, Forward Lift, Hunter, Chief, Polyvance, Graco, Eurovac, Topring, Robinair, Kärcher, ChargePoint, and FLO.
► Do you sell automotive equipment for home garages?
Yes. We supply four-post storage lifts, compact two-post lifts, compressors, and pressure washers for home garages. We'll check that what you buy suits your ceiling height, concrete floor and electrical service.
► Can you get automotive equipment that isn't listed on your website?
Usually, yes. Contact us with the make, model or type of equipment you're looking for, and we'll source it through our manufacturer network.
► Do you sell used or clearance automotive equipment?
Yes. Check our used, clearance, and sale listings, or ask our team what's available.
► Can I finance automotive equipment?
Yes. Financing and leasing options are available on automotive equipment purchases. Visit our, Get Financing page to apply.
► Why don't you list prices online?
Automotive equipment pricing depends on the model, options, freight to your location and whether you need installation. A quote from us covers the total cost of getting equipment working in your shop, not just the price of the box.
Sources behind the factual claims
- Canadian electrical approval: the Canadian Electrical Code requires electrical equipment available for sale to be approved, and nearly all provincial authorities prohibit selling, installing or using unapproved equipment. Approved products carry marks such as CSA, cUL or cETL.
- UL vs cUL: a plain UL mark isn't approved equipment under the Canadian Electrical Code; UL has to apply the Canadian "c" identifier.
- Consequence of unapproved equipment: it can be refused connection to power, according to show regulations based on the Electrical Safety Code.
- ALI gold label: lifts that pass testing to the ANSI/ALI standard receive the ALI Gold Certification Label and are listed in ALI's directory.
